The student visa holds a lot of advantages for you to make the most of:
- Study & work
While you are studying you are able to work up to 20 hours per week.
While you are on school holidays your are able to work up to 40 hours per week.
- Long-term, short-term visa stay
You can come and study in Australia for a few months or you can come and study for up to 5 years on the student visa. During this time you can choose to study English, Vocational or University level courses.
- No Age Limitation

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE STUDENT VISA
The Student Visa duration depends on the program you choose:
- if you enrol for a six-month course, your Student Visa will be valid for 6 months.
- if you enrol for a three-year program, your Student Visa will be valid for 3 years.
The program you choose must be between 12 and 52 weeks in order to be eligible for a Student Visa.
Depending on the length of your course, your visa will be granted with the following additional times once you finish your studies:
- For courses below 10 months of duration, you will be given one month extra
- For courses over the 10-month threshold, you will be given two extra months.
- For courses over 10 months in which the term end date is December, you will be given three extra months.
STUDENT VISA RENEWAL
You can renew your student visa as many times as you like as long as you are enrolled into a course that is registered on the CRICOS registry. However you need to know that the government still assesses the genuineness of your visa renewal application.
WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR A STUDENT VISA
1. Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
Your chosen college will issue a CoE to confirm your enrolment. You need to submit this with your visa application. We will be assisting you with this.
2. Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE)
A GTE outlines your reason for coming and your future intentions. Our immigration lawyer will be assisting you with this statement free of charge.
3. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
OSHC is a health insurance scheme designed for international students. It will help you cover any potential medical or hospital expenses that you may incur during your stay in Australia. It will also cover a certain percentage of pharmaceuticals and ambulance services. This needs to be prepaid for the time of your visa. We set you up with the best OSHC insurance in Australia.
4. Australian Health Requirements
Depending on which country you are coming from you may need to do a medical examination. Our immigration lawyer and agents will assist you with this.
5. English Requirements
Depending on which country you come from and which course you are applying for you will need to be able to speak English. 5.5 on the IELTS test is the common English requirement for studying. Don’t stress about this as we will be enrolling you into an English course with Astley English College. If immigration sees that you are studying English when you arrive you will not need to stress about the test.
